The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is to secure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights in order to eliminate race-based discrimination and ensure the health and well-being of all persons.
The NAACP in Texas represents a historic and impactful component of the national organization with a track-record of organizing and financing landmark civil rights lawsuits. Recently, the NAACP in Texas has helped lead efforts to persuade the Texas Supreme Court to make underlying conditions to Covid a basis or obtaining absentee ballots, fight discriminatory redistricting maps for the State House and Congress, advocate against laws that would have limited the number of people that an individual can transport to the polls, champion a new African-American history curriculum for Texas Public Schools.
